@Teena - I know Teena, I'm so so sorry. That is a sad day indeed. I feel for your whole family and hope he's in kitty heaven.

@WR - I went with trepidation myself, not sure how it would be, but it really is fascinating. They're our bodies you know? It's neat to lift the veil of hazy supposition and see reality.

I too am much more comfy with outdoor critters, seems like they belong out there more, but when they invade my personal space - watch out!

The BodyWorlds Exhibit sounds very fascinating; although I'm not sure if I can handle it visually. Even so, I'd probably consider going to it just out of curiosity.

I'm funny with bugs. I'm paralyzed by their presence in the house but not bothered by them outdoors. I don't know what that's all about. It's certainly weird. Maybe I'm comfortable with the idea that I have a huge space available to me outdoors should I need to bolt...:)

Yeah, the boyfriend is making a good recovery. He should know better than to heft heavy doors all by his lonesome.

I totally know we're spoiled in AB, and am actually scared of better climates and their subsequent insect situation. I totally think if I were in your shoes I'd just suck it up and get better at it too, but until then each new summer will bring new shrieks.

Good for you - if bribery works, it's often the best way to get 'er done! :) It was totally fascinating indeed, and although I'm not sure I'd enjoy the morgue, I definitely enjoyed the amazing exhibit. We sure are fragile and crammed full of stuff. :)

I've been to the BodyWorlds Exhibit when I was visiting Charlotte, NC. I took forensic anthropology at UofA, and visited the morgue twice, so I knew I could handle it. I actually had to bribe my husband to go into BW, he thought it was going to make him throw up lol. But he ended up being glad I took him in there, it was very fascinating. :)

I used to be afraid of bugs when I lived in Edmonton. The smallest spider would freak me out. But then I moved to North Carolina, and I'm WAY less afraid of most bugs. There are some crazy, dangerous, large and gross bugs here, that you're less afraid of the run of the mill ones. Sort of like Crocodile Dundee "That's not a knife....THIS is a knife". Not to mention the nasty snakes. I was totally spoiled in Alberta, and I didn't even know it LOL

I'm sorry your boyfriend hurt himself :( Sounds like you had a lot of work to do!

Oh wow - I usually shy away from roadkill since I'm too soft hearted and am on the verge of tears about the loss of life. But I'd be all over that museum too, and yardwork over workouts is a non-contest.

LOL -- you need to scrap that "workout" routine and stick with yardwork. It'll make you TOUGH!

I'm known around here as being The Roadkill Inspector. I love looking at weird creatures, their behavior, and other odd things, yes, even roadkill. I keep pestering my husband to take me to Walter Reed in DC where they keep the human oddities and anomalies in formaldehyde for visitors to observe and study. He won't take me. I don't think he's fun....

I love most critters too, and have no fears of spiders, bats or snakes. Or even scorpions and cockroaches. But for some unfathomable reason I have a deep, loud fear of spiders and worms. And sometimes centipedes. And maggots.

There is no rhyme or reason for it, and I actually have no problems with the spiders who want to weave a web and sit there quietly. In the spirit of quid pro quo I'm perfectly willing to leave them alone if they return the favor. Sadly most spiders in my yard are large fast vagabonds. They suntan on rocks and hide in the grass by the garden bed. They are speedy and have no concept that I am bigger and scarier. They run, I scream.

I love bugs! I don't know what's the deal with me, but I love all the kinds of critters that make most people squeamish - bugs, snakes, bats, spiders! Don't get me wrong, I don't want to invite them over for tea or anything, but I'm usually more fascinated by them than anything. Have you ever watched a spider spinning it's web? It is spectacular and well worth the time spent the watching. The body exhibit sounds cool - I haven't seen it yet, but would like to...
