@Brownie - thanks so much! Remember I started way before you did. Once they get to about two sets of leaves you can give them some half strength fertilizer, and they will shoot right up. Mine were babies for a while too, don't worry, you have tons of time.

I'd say once they get to be about the same size or a bit bigger than the pot they're in, they're good to go. You want the root ball to be fairly dense and to fill out the pot so that transplanting is easier on them.

Since early this week is supposed to be cold, see where they're at by next weekend. They will go gangbusters with fertilizer when they go outside.

Your vegetables look wonderful!

Mine aren't even half the size.

Is there a rule of thumb on how big your plants need to be before you re-pot them or stick them outside?

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that. Yep, I'd wait until after the middle of next week - the soil is warm already, but that last cold spell won't be good for them. Otherwise, directly seeding seems to be the way to go anyhow - you'll likely get great results.

Everything of mine died. Sigh. I'll try a few things maybe this weekend directly to soil. Your little "babies" all look fab. May many delish meals be in your future!

Thanks so much! I've fretted like a hen on eggs for most of this process, and everytime something goes sideways it's quite perplexing, but for the most part everything is indeed looking well. Looks like within the next ten days the weather will shape up for the great outdoors so I'm hopeful they will continue to thrive until them.

Fantastic job with these! They look superb. Your pepper plants look 1000% better than any of ours from two years of trying. You are giving your garden a great head start.
